Hi, my name is James C. Boney… aka Doktor Hugo Rotwang… and I’m the creator of Fayn World.

Fayn World is for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons players who want to:

— hear more about AD&D mechanics and how they work

— watch the creation and development of an actual AD&D campaign world in progress, and

— help bring life back to the Old School style of game play through promoting discussion, creation and promotion of OS material based around AD&D.

Who am I?

I’ve played AD&D since 1982. I like other RPGs too, but 1st edition AD&D is my first love.

(Looks like rough trade, but children and animals love him, and just might be a wizard so treat him nice…)

Since the birth of the OSR in 2006, I’ve been involved in the creation of the OSRIC document while writing and publishing 1E-oriented adventures such as:

The Red Mausoleum

The Curse of the Witch Head

Chasm of the Damned

White Dragon Run

Riddle of Anadi

Seven Shrines of Nav’k-Qar

I’ve also published for Swords & Wizardry with:

In my opinion, when it comes to adventure RPG publishing, retro-clones are no longer needed. All the old books we used back in the day are easy to obtain in reprint. I’ve demonstrated that in many posts over the past six months or so.

While the sheer bulk of material in some of these tomes may be off-putting to some, using the old books takes player back to the original initiation style of RPG play… get with someone who knows the game and learn at the table.

Today, we have the internet, so the table is optional.

Fayn World is for 1E. It’s that simple. What you get on this site is fully developed from the 1E rules and not someone’s interpretation of those rules distilled down for fast food consumption.
